A-frame Cabin

The symbolism of the triangle speaks deeply to our family. Being the strongest shape in nature, the triangle draws its strength from within. We are planning on debuting our first build in the summer 2022.

Bridge + Driveway

Developing raw land requires big projects. In 2020, we learned our neighborhood forest bridge would not be suitable for a well rig or construction machinery. Cronin Mountain decided partner with EST Engineering to help design + create a new bridge over our creek and a new driveway from the main road to our build site. The bridge will be built to handle the weight of a well rig and heavy machinery (65,000 lbs+) for our upcoming construction + development project. The driveway will offer direct + private access from the county road to our build site and upcoming cabin rentals as well.

Organic Greenhouse

We decided to partner with Growing Spaces Greenhouses because of their strength. The triangle shapes (more triangles!) forming the Growing Dome greenhouse creates a geometric pattern of strength not replicated in a simple rectangular shape. The USA-sourced polycarbonate glazing panels allow 65% of light and can handle the weight of snow pack for winter. This greenhouse is completely self-regulating, solar-powered and more. Our green house will be 22ft in diameter and 350 sq/ft of interior growing. This size will provide plenty of year-round fresh produce for 4-5 people, perfect for our growing family.

Chicken Coop

We were backyard chicken owners before buying our acreage and our love of chickens was a strong consideration in jumping into our homesteading adventure. Our new chicken coop will need to be black bear, mountain lion, bob cat and raccoon proof. Our plan is to build a coop with either cinder block, cement or stone with a greenhouse like enclosure for winter heat and a chicken run with 1/4 inch hardwire mesh and possibly a solar powered electric wire if needed for pesky predators.

Honey Bees

We decided to partner with Flow Hives because of their unique and humane hive design. This design allows all the honeycombs to open with the push of a lever to allow raw honey to flow without disturbing the hive or the bees. This incredible innovation will allow our homestead to have happy bees and raw local honey literally on tap for health benefits, cooking and more.

Llama Stables

We choose to invite llamas to our homestead for many reasons. First, llamas are natural predator deterrers and protectors of livestock,. They also make great hiking companions because they can pack weight and help with homesteading projects around the land. Llama wool is also very valuable and warm and we will be able to use that wool for clothing, blankets and more. Llamas also make great family pets and companions.

Hiking Trails

One of the larger projects on our homestead is creating hiking trails on our raw acreage. Our first trail is called “Discovery” and leads you from our campsite down around and in front of some of our rock formations. We have plans to continue this trail all the way to Cronin Cabin and create other trails down to Troy Creek, our other rock formations and all other points of interest on our mountain.
