2 years ago…. we sold our suburban home and started our off-grid adventure. 2 years ago, we looked at this camper, and envisioned it could be so much more than the mold, water damage, and repairs. We saw family slumber parties every night. We saw bedtime stories, campfire meals and lots of s’mores. We saw being close to our kids and being there for every cough, nightmare and snuggle. We saw the sacrifice of giving up 3,000 sq/ft for 120 sq/ft and 35 acres to hike, explore and adventure through every day while building our dream house at the same time. We never knew our dream would take over 2 years. We never knew how difficult it would be to build a home from scratch in the Colorado mountain wild. There was so much we didn’t know and that was what made it magical, and still does. We are still bright eyed with the challenges of living off-grid and building our dream. We have no idea how many more challenges may arise between now and the spring when we start construction. And you know what??? It’s okay. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is it’s better not to know the challenges. It’s better to take them as they come. Because challenges are really only training us for what we really want—so we can be ready when it happens. I look at these pictures and smile. We’ve come so far and will continue to go far. One step at a time is how it all gets done. One step at a time is how you get to where you really want to be
