AHHH our basement structural engineering is now ready!! Now, just need to design it and then we will have house plans!! Has anyone else built from scratch before? One year of planning and we are getting SO CLOSE to blueprints!! Now, how to design an off-grid basement? Who here is ? off-grid? We plan on putting our battery bank, house water filtration system, and any other off grid needs we may have down there along with guest and game areas.

Tag someone you know that lives off-grid or has built on raw land or built from scratch! Need connections!! This is the homestretch before building begins!!! ??✨?

    • Rachel McCash Cronin That’s awesome!! Yes we are planning for solar + wood + well. We will not be powering the house with a generator. We are generatored out from living in our camper ?. And yes, generators are WAY LOUD. That is very interesting about the battery bank! Do you know what type of batteries he uses? We have only looked into Telsa home batteries and as far as we’ve read, they go inside and shouldn’t have to be moved. And yes, septic will be a few hundred yards away–or whatever the regulation is–I don’t remember. Definitely don’t want that too close haha ?
    • Mark Bore Rachel McCash Cronin I’m not sure what batteries he uses I just know they are very big and heavy. Old school ones for sure. He’s been mostly off grid for 20+ years now. Only grid connection is natural gas there. As for the cabin, it’s up in the mountains not far from Manti and mostly used by family in the summer and as a hunting cabin in the fall. That’s why they have the big diesel generator since it can run for a very long time off the bulk fuel tank.

  • Adrianne Reyes We are going to use geothermal which you can incorporate into your plans. There’s only 1 company I found online up around the boulder area.

  • I would have all that stuff in a separate room that you can close off from the rest of the downstairs.

My husband knows all about those drawings and stuff if you ever want him to help or take a look.
