Finished up 4 weeks of homeschool today! 🎉 Homeschool has been an adjustment for us. Some days we can get it all done in a few hours, and other days it takes ALL DAY. I definitely have more respect for educators because this is not easy, even though our school has done an outstanding job in making e-learning as easy as possible. We love the daily live classes! His favorite? Computer science 💯. We just learned his school will not be opening again until next school year (like most of us), which is sad for us. It’s sad for him to miss out on his track practices + meets, his play that he memorized all his lines for, playing with his friends at recess and his overnight expedition. But we are all in this together—we could all say something similar. So, I’m taking lots of pictures. I’m trying to be present and enjoy the flexibility of slower mornings and a schedule I can make our own. I’m getting to know ALL of his teachers in new ways. I’m learning how to help my son feel motivated and watch his journal entries improve daily. I’m showing him how to draw cats, care about art + gardening and notice when a number or letter is backwards. They say “it takes a village” and it really does! It’s the little things and each day I’m more and more confident that all is working out as it should. We are in the middle of a huge historic event! This is not an easy reality to live because nothing will go back to normal—it will be a new normal. A new normal we are all figuring out together. 💗💗💗
