February 9th, 2021– Bridge + Driveway Survey Day 1 of 4

Ahhh day 1 of 4 of our driveway + bridge survey!!

Today was a massive primitive hike with our amazing surveyor who helped me create a better driveway route.

Our surveyor has 20+ years experience in mountain surveys and I was so grateful he helped us blaze a better route from the main road to our build site.

This new route has 267 ft of fall and will be about 1/4 to 1/2 mile in length. This new route may require a 2nd bridge as well but I’d rather have a 2nd bridge than go a different way and have extra switch backs.

I also love how this new route goes across our acreage making our property feel like new again and creating an easy way to see our land. I saw areas today I had not seen before!

On our new drive home we will get to see views of our creek, rock formations, valleys and more—it will be incredible.

The entire time our surveyor was in awe of our choice to build a new road—he could hardly believe it because it’s such a massive project.

But as we got started, he began to realize our vision and desire to do our incredible property justice and helped us design an amazing route that will make construction EASY and help us enjoy our land in new ways.

I can even see semi trucks coming up now! And of course the well rig—that will be easy. Our mission—time to create a hiking trail of our new driveway route.

If anyone wants to come over and help us clear brush and make the path more defined, I’ll bring the food or maybe we hit up a fun restaurant after!! Making a hiking trail will help our surveyor so much as the route needs 50 ft in width all the way up. Perfect workout too!! 💁🏻‍♀️🙌🏼Overall, I’m so excited!! I absolutely love the new route!! 😍😍😍

  • Lauren MooreYay!! ❤️❤️❤️
    • Rachel McCash CroninLauren Moore yes it is a massive project. The company thought it would only need today but our guy needs at least 4 days 😳. So 4x bigger than was expected. But it will be so worth it!! Never thought a driveway or a bridge or 2 would be so exciting lol 😂 😍
    • Lauren MooreRachel McCash Cronin I’m so excited to see the finished project. I know this has been such a long adventure for you guys, but it sounds like it is going to be SOOO worth it! And it makes it even better when you have a team that can see the vision and is on board to make it happen (or even better than you could have imagined)I so wish we were closer, I’d be more than happy to come help clear out brush and see this beautiful land 😍
  • Nicole RogersMe and the kids would love to come help! They were literally just asked me yesterday when we can go hiking LOL this kills two birds with one stone and it helps you out.
  • Tatiana EvansThe children and I would love to come help! 🤗
  • Shannon WarrenHow many acres do you guys own?
    • Rachel McCash CroninShannon Warren we have just over 35 acres 🏔 🧗🏻‍♀️ 🙏🏼
    • Shannon WarrenWe have 40 acres that I hike on by myself and with my baby when the weather is appropriate for him. Are you able to explore outside of your property lines? I have neighboring farmers all around me unfortunately! I feel like living in the mountains, you have a lot more property because of the surface area of the diverse terrain, you get vertical exploration as well!
    • Rachel McCash CroninShannon Warren omg that is awesome!!! Our property backs to the national forest so it feels like a lot more property and gives us more space to explore. But honestly 35 is huge for us and we haven’t explored all of it yet and it’s been 2.5 years 😂. We border 3 other lots all 35 acres each and all vacant. We haven’t explored their properties at all though—we dont really have any desire to—we love our land! 😍🏔
  • Kim MacLurgSounds awesome!
  • Kathy WoodruffSo exciting!!
  • Andrew FraserAdvice from experts is priceless. Congratulations
  • Sahara Aloe VeraThat’s so cool!
  • Jessica Kishif I still lived there.
  • Kat DavidsonSooo excited for you guys! We did construction staking for 12 acres and although my back is broken it feels so good to make progress and slowly see the vision!! I can’t wait to check it out!
  • Jeff Molina
  • Elyrha Lucyomg, so exciting
  • Michael T HooverHope they don’t make it too steep 😉🌹
    • Rachel McCash CroninMichael T Hoover yep I trust my team! They said in the steepest areas it will be 10% or less. Our current easement road is 11% so it will feel a little flatter than our current one in the steepest areas. 🙌🏼
    • Jessica KishThe current one is steep 😉 but my van did it.
    • Michael T HooverJessica KishI just think about winter conditions! Personally I like a nice gradual incline and don’t mind a few wide sweeping loops on a driveway…
    • Rachel McCash CroninMichael T Hoover I’m excited with our new one being a little flatter, though we’ve got used to plowing our steep road. Pretty much we can only plow downhill on the steep parts—which isn’t that big of an inconvenience, we just have to drive back up and then plow down. If we transition to a truck plow instead of a 4 wheeler plow, that might be different but we are veterans now haha 💁🏻‍♀️
    • Michael T HooverRachel McCash CroninThat’s awesome you guys have it down! I live in snow country where I’m at and just about everyone has a plow on their truck.. it’s a way of life more than half the year here… For my little place I just use a snow scoop, lol…
  • Diana ERHow exciting!! We’d love to help you clear, whatever you need! I see your vision and can’t wait for it to become a reality for you guys 💗
    • Diana ERRachel McCash Cronin yes!! Are you guys staying warm? You’re always welcome to come over, if you ever need a warm place to stay ❤
