Poor kitties all recovering from surgery at the same time. Yesterday was spay/neuter day for the kitten squad. (Except not Mountain Kitty—he had his before we got him—he’s being a good daddy kitty to the kittens). Everyone is doing really well!! 2 of our kitties are eating, drinking and playing as normal! But one kitty is just hiding under the bed glaring at us . They are all begging to go outside but must rest in the warmth for a few more days—which I think is the hardest part for them lol they love being outside. Any tips for a fast recovery? It’s been decades since I last went through this with my childhood pets lol. So far our rules are for the kids to NOT pick up kitties. And keeping them inside. Anything else to help support a good recovery?

- Fathima KhalidDrop a few vitamin c supplements in to their drinking bowl, or mash it and include a bit in their food. It will help them heal faster. Bless you, mama for taking such good care of them!!
- Diana Grover LarsenI love them so much. Sending healing their way
- Whitney HirataThe hardest part is to keep them from jumping.
- Brenda UprightBe sure your female doesn’t get her stitches or surgery site wet. It can get infected easily. When I’m doing TNR and trap a female she’s indoors for a week or longer post surgery. It’s sooo hard with a feral cat I can’t handle, luckily yours are tame and can be distracted with snuggles. Be sure to track their output so they are peeing at least twice a day/poop at least once. Pain meds can constipate so you can give fur ball paste to ease their tummies. My cats love the Laxatone brand. You can increase water consumption by adding tuna juice or canned chicken juice to the water bowl. It’s good to try to flush out the anesthesia from their system. If they got an antibiotic it’s a good idea to add a probiotic to the diet for at least a week. Good luck keeping them from jumping!
- Amanda StilesHope they feel better soon. Mine get done in a couple weeks.
