Dear Colorado Springs Police-

We are upset with all the drive by shooting behavior by the classless drivers that drive up Old Stage Rd here in the Broadmoor area.

Instead of driving to the public land where it’s legal to shoot, (about an hour up the road in total), these classless drivers instead shoot into privately owned land where people live (about 20 min up the road).

We have had several people shoot into our land and our neighbors land. We are raising awareness of this dangerous safety concern because we have young kids and a family that live full time in this area, as well as several neighbors that live up here full time as well.

We’ve called the police nearly every time we’ve had a drive by shooting and are met with the same response: “there is nothing you can do.”

These classless drivers know the police will do nothing, and so continue to put lives into danger by shooting into privately owned land for whatever thrill that gives them.

Yesterday my husband was actually 4-wheeling down by the road when another shooting took place. What if he got shot? Then would the police decide to come out or would that also not be enough?

It’s so frustrating to have regular drive-by shootings and knowing the police know there are shootings taking place, endangering families, and yet nothing is being done to stop this dangerous behavior.

Please start to prosecute these classless drivers. Please start patrolling Old Stage Road. Please start replacing all the bullet-ridden “no shooting” signs the moment they get shot. Please start setting up police cameras to catch license plates. Please start caring about drive-by shootings.

Sincerely,

Old Stage Road Residents

Cole Abiah Wadsworth III May be able to share tips on securing it better and trail cams etc he’s used before.1
    • Rachel McCash Cronin Brooke Weisbender-Wadsworth that would be great!! Maybe Cole and Todd can chat directly about it. We do have 3 guardzilla cams but the batteries die so fast! Definitely would love to learn what works for you guys!
    • Olivia Cronin This is scary!!! Hopefully it brings awareness.1Delete or hide this
      • Rachel McCash Cronin Olivia Cronin yes!! I think it already has! I think we will add a few more signs and see what happens. After talking to the reporter, we both feel shooters just have no idea people actually live on private land. If shooters knew, they would drive to the legal areas instead of choosing to shoot illegally1
      • Jessica Kish And some of the comments. You should’ve researched before buying. So it’s your fault people are stupid and breaking the law 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
        • Lance Fairbanks Time to get Security Cameras to get those license plates!1

            • Rachel McCash Cronin Mendy Goodman aww oh wow!! Some people these days!!! Pretty sure the private land where we bought has been private for decades! 🙄 Definitely not enroaching at all. There are millions of acres available to shoot in Pike National Forest literally 30 min further up the road. Thank you for having our back! 💗🙌🏻
            • Michael T Hoover I think that another professional sign should be approved of and added next to this no shooting sign or one sign that says no shooting (and) because there are people that own this private land that you are viewing from this overlook and they live down …See More
