December 16th, 2020 — System Failure

Last night, my husband told me to pack the family. It was time to go.

Around 11:30pm, our generator stopped working after running for about 30 hours straight. And with the storm + cloudy days, our solar hasn’t had a chance to charge. Which meant, our 66 degree RV would quickly match the 16 degree weather outside in a few hours. My hubs was working late and through texts of troubleshooting, he told me one of my favorite electrical troubleshooting options: HOTEL.

Little did my hubs realize at the time, but of course I packed all 4 cats too . Afterall, they are “family!” And 16 degrees is way too cold for them too. But he was still shocked to see 4 cats in our room last night .

So here we are! Staycation extended! Which has become pretty common for us in the harsh winters here in the Colorado mountains. I think we had 3-4 staycations last year. Off-grid is hard. But no shame at all with my 30 min hot shower last night . It’s called BALANCE .

We are actually looking at getting a downtown apartment or condo for these sort of events to just make it more easy than a hotel—stock it with clothes, toiletries and stuff for the cats so it’s easy to bounce back and forth when needed in the winters.
