February 25th, 2020– Do NOT Drive up Old Stage Rd!

PSA- DO NOT DRIVE UP OLD STAGE RD! Unless you have higher end snow tires, chains and 4 wheel drive. My hubs and I have lost count of how many cars that have gone off the cliffs in this area in the past 2 weeks. There are just TOO MANY. 😢 Especially with today’s 55 MPH wind gusts, just don’t come up here. We’ve already tried rescuing one car and couldn’t get them free. It’s in turn, another dangerous job created for tow trucks when someone drives up here unprepared. #besmart #getprepared

Comments:

  • Jessica Kish Oh my goodness! Falling off there is a fear of mine.
  • Alicia Broussard After the first time we went through there, I told Chris I’m never going again unless we come in three other way and drive next to the cliff wall. I will NEVER drive on the cliff edge side again. And that was a beautiful, *slightly* breezy day. I damn near heard a panic attack. My husband literally saved my nana from falling and Harlen was just fearless 😬😵
  • Jamila Zaidi 🤣🤣🤣 so what you’re saying is jeeps only ?
  • Active NowHaylo Jugler 🎼 🎶“I’m gonna take my car up the Old Stage road, and get so stuuuuuck, that I can’t drive no’mo” 🎵 🎶
  • Shari Ritter Where is Old Stage Road?
  • Allyssa Walker Omg yes. My husband had to drive up Saturday to get his friend unstuck.
They thought it was a good idea to drive their AWD rav 4 up at night on Friday 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

  • Brian MacDonald We need pictures!
  • Robyn Brown Gone off the cliffs!😳
  • Lisa Mckown I was thinking about you and how the wind is so crazy up there
    • Rachel McCash Cronin Lisa Mckown awe thank you!! We are good + prepared!! Very excited for March soon!
    • Jill Suarez I took my work truck a Ford F-150 up in worse conditions ( part of the problem is drivers not having the experience of the conditions) 4 wheel and full tread winter off road tires only for old stage road .
    • Rachel McCash Cronin Jill Suarez exactly! You can’t freak out when sliding in the ice. It definitely takes practice. Simply letting off the break and stirring really well can prevent sliding off cliffs or into snow banks. It definitely goes against natural instincts and probably should be taught in drivers ed
    • Jill Suarez Rachel McCash Cronin we have meters and equipment up there all the way on top of transmitter lane ( I always stop at the sandwich shop and horse stable ) wow I didn’t realize the word was out on this road being so much “fun” , good for you guys being so nice and helping them out.
    • Rachel McCash Cronin Jill Suarez oh yes!! We get “rush hour” type traffic most weekends. All jeeps for the most part. And yes, we are happy to help + teach others!! We also don’t hesitate to let shooters know it’s illegal to shoot until the National Forest as well. Those conversations are scary!! Slowly yet surely we’d love to make old stage rd safe!!
    • Criscell Marie Rachel McCash Cronin we were taught how to deal with the snow and sliding in Drivers Ed, but I live in Utah. And it was 20 plus years ago. 😬 lol! Don’t know if they still do?
  • Sabrina McCash Are they Okay?
    • Sabrina McCash This happened to me back in December..
It was one of the scariest days of my life, I thought, for sure, the car was gonna tip over I had Colton with me… I had really bad tires an was not prepared. My car slide sideways into the ditch.

I was freaking out, so bad crying, scared to move, and some lady actually stopped and stopped traffic and she let us sit in her car until someone came to help I was extremely blessed is she actually stopped to help.. Everyone else kept passing me by
    • Rachel McCash Cronin Sabrina McCash wow so glad you both were okay!!!
    • Rachel McCash Cronin And I’m not sure—this car was vacant by the time we saw it. I hope they were!! This is a Jeep! Even jeeps can slide off too!
