June 7th, 2020 – My Son…

My son,You graduated Kindergarten! This year you learned far more than just to read and write. You learned of tenacity and the importance of always showing up, even when it was snowing, even when we had to plow our road first—you showed up. That took grit. You learned leadership, taking responsibility and saying sorry when mistakes were made— that took bravery. You found your voice in singing and got out of your comfort zone to get on stage in front of your entire school—that took courage. And when the world changed with threat of a virus, you embraced learning from home in a place NOT set up for online learning. Despite no internet, no desks, and living off-grid, you not only completed all your assignments and attended your live classes, but also got the kindergarten equivalent of straight A’s— that took determination. School is not just about education, it’s about digging deeper and learning who you really are and pushing the limits to make discoveries that will change your life. To say I’m proud would be an understatement—it’s a joy to watch you discover your love of math and science, try new foods in the big cafeteria and tell me all the amazing things you want to try next—whether it’s sports, computer programming or cup stacking—it’s incredible. Thank you for letting me be your guide in this life. Can’t wait to see what the next years will bring! Love, Mommy
